Season of Hell's Legacy gives the Barbarian a fun, no-fuss route from level 1 through 70. Whirlwind works because it keeps you moving, gathers packs quickly, and turns ordinary rare drops into enough power for the climb. You don't need to wait for perfect rolls or chase rare effects. A solid two-handed mace, sensible stats, and a few well-placed skill points will carry the run. If you're sorting upgrades along the way, D4 items can help fill a weak slot, but the build is meant to stand on its own.

Keep Fury Flowing

Start with Lunging Strike and treat it as your refill button. Take the upgrades that award more Fury when you pass through targets, grant Berserking from critical hits, and add Dust Devils. Then put most of your early focus into Whirlwind. The movement-speed option feels better while leveling, especially in long dungeons. Once Fury starts staying full more often, shift toward the option that improves cost efficiency and damage. Add the channeling bonus and the Dust Devil upgrade too. You will notice the change fast: smaller groups stop slowing you down, and stragglers tend to fall over behind you.

Skill Priorities

Use Rallying Cry first for movement speed, Fury recovery, longer uptime, and resource gained while travelling.
Use War Cry before elite fights for attack speed, Berserking, and a way to make enemies Vulnerable.
Use Challenging Shout when pressure builds, then save Wrath of the Berserker for bosses or crowded rooms.

That order keeps the rotation simple. Rallying Cry is the button you press constantly. War Cry is for damage windows. Challenging Shout buys breathing room when enemies hit hard. Wrath of the Berserker becomes much stronger with attack speed, extra Fury production, a longer duration from Fury spent, and the Overpower upgrade. Don't hold it forever. If a boss is taking too long, press it and keep spinning.

Weapons, Companion, and Seasonal Power

Slot Recommended Choice Main Benefit

Main weapon Two-Handed Mace Strong physical output

Technique Polearm Expertise Better combat pace

Companion Raheir Control and protection

Seasonal power Splinter of Terror Fits rapid clearing

Put Two-Handed Mace Expertise in the main slot, then use Polearm Expertise as your Technique. Raheir is a natural fit because Ground Slam, Aegis, Bastion, and Inspiration give you space to stay aggressive. For the seasonal path, Diablo's Splinter of Terror and Flames of Metus pair nicely with constant movement. They are especially handy in familiar areas such as the Den of Evil, where fast clearing matters more than fancy setup.

Stats That Make the Run Feel Better

On the mace, look for weapon damage, Strength, physical damage, and broad damage bonuses. Helm, chest, and pants should lean into maximum life, resistances, Strength, and Fury support; cooldown reduction on the helm is a welcome pickup. Gloves want critical strike chance, attack speed, Strength, and critical hit damage. Boots are all about movement speed first, with life, armor, and Fury recovery close behind. For rings and an amulet, keep an eye out for critical chance, attack speed, and physical damage. When a rough stretch calls for a quick upgrade, buy cheap D4 items before heading back into the next dungeon, then keep Rallying Cry active and let Whirlwind do the work.
